Berjaya Redang vs Laguna Redang: what to compare
One Redang resort has an official site and room count, the other does not.
Berjaya Redang Island Resort and Laguna Redang Island Resort are not on the same stretch of Redang, and they are not equally documented. Berjaya has an official site, a location at Teluk Siang in the south and a room count of 97 [1]. Laguna has a place in our notes but no working official site.
So the comparison begins uneven, and the fair way to even it is to ask both for the same written details. Read the Pulau Redang island guide for the wider picture.
What is confirmed about each resort?
| Berjaya Redang Island Resort | Laguna Redang Island Resort | |
|---|---|---|
| Area | Teluk Siang, south [1] | South end of the main beach on the Pasir Panjang strip |
| Rooms | 97 [1] | Not confirmed |
| Meals | Not stated on its site [1] | Meal plan unknown |
| Official page | Yes | A web address we tried was a parked page |
| Crossing | Speedboat from Merang, about 45 minutes [3] | Same crossing |
Berjaya also says it owns two resorts on Redang, and does not name the second [2]. Our pages on Berjaya Redang Island Resort and Laguna Redang cover each in more detail.
Why does the area matter?
Pasir Panjang is the largest beach on Redang, with about half a dozen resorts along it [4]. Teluk Siang is a separate southern bay. The two areas will feel different in how many neighbours you have, how far the sand is and what snorkelling is within reach.
Our guides to Pasir Panjang and to Teluk Siang as a southern base describe both. Read them with a map open, then ask each resort how far the room is from the beach.
How do you compare when one resort has less information?
Do not guess to fill the gaps. Use a short ladder and move down only when the step above is answered.
- Identity: confirm the resort’s name, its area and an official contact.
- Room: get the room type, the bed count and the maximum occupancy.
- Meals: get the plan in writing for every day.
- Boat: get the departure jetty, the times and whether both ways are in the price.
- Fees and terms: get the marine park fee, the cancellation rule and the monsoon dates.
If Laguna cannot answer steps one and two, there is nothing yet to compare against Berjaya’s official facts. Our resort inclusion comparator helps with steps three and four.
A better fit if…
Berjaya may be a better fit if you want to read an official page and a room count before you ask anything. Confirm its meal plans, which its site does not state.
Laguna may be a better fit if you prefer to be on the busier Pasir Panjang strip near other places to eat. Confirm that the resort itself can answer your questions in writing.
Either may be a poor fit if you need certainty before paying. Ask for written terms from both and compare only what is written.
When can you go?
Most Redang resorts close during the northeast monsoon, roughly November to March [5]. Exact dates vary, so ask each resort. Our Redang season guide explains the pattern, and the Merang jetty arrival guide shows how arrival day fits together.
Common questions
Which resort has more confirmed information?
Berjaya Redang Island Resort has an official site that gives its location at Teluk Siang and a room count of 97. For Laguna Redang Island Resort we found no working official site, so its room types and meal plan are open questions. Ask both for written details.
Are they on the same beach?
No. Our notes place Berjaya at Teluk Siang in the south and Laguna at the south end of the long main beach on the Pasir Panjang strip. Ask each resort how far your room is from the sand and where snorkelling starts.
Do either of them include meals?
Berjaya's site does not state its meal plans, and we know nothing confirmed for Laguna. Ask which meals are in the rate, whether drinks and snacks are extra, and what changes on arrival and departure days.
Do they close in the monsoon?
Most Redang resorts close during the northeast monsoon, roughly November to March, and exact dates vary by resort and year. Ask both for their dates in writing, and ask what happens to your booking if the boat cannot sail.
