Our notes place The Taaras on the north coast of Redang. The idea that it was formerly Redang Berjaya comes from booking sites, and it conflicts with Berjaya’s own statement about where its resort stands.

Because of that conflict, treat the former-name claim as unverified. Ask the resort to confirm who operates it today, since the operator decides the rates, rules and what a booking includes.

How do you get there?

Most guests reach Redang by speedboat from the Merang jetty, and the crossing takes about 45 minutes ^[1]. Ask which side of the island the boat lands on, and how you reach the resort from there.

• Who operates the resort today, and has it changed its name?
• Which room types are available, and how many people does each take?
• Is the stay on the north coast, and how far is the beach from the room?
• Is the rate room only, breakfast only, or does it cover more meals, and what is billed separately at the restaurant?
• Is the boat transfer both ways in the package, what time does it leave, and where does it collect you?
• Is the marine park fee in the package? It is reported as RM30 for an adult and RM15 for a child without a MyKad, and RM5 and RM2 with one ^[2].
• How are children, infants and seniors priced, and what happens to your payment if the sea is too rough to sail?
