Compare island package quotes fairly

Two or three quotes look similar, and you cannot tell what each one really includes.

Compare quotes for the same dates and the same group. Pick Not sure when the quote does not say. Not sure is never counted as No.

Quote A
Quote B
Quote C

This comparator puts two or three quotes side by side and marks each inclusion as yes, no or not sure. It shows where the quotes truly differ and lists what is still unknown. It does not pick a winner.

Read what a resort price includes, line by line first if the wording on your quotes is unfamiliar. Then bring the totals into the island trip cost calculator.

How do I use the comparator?

Work through one quote at a time, using the written text only.

  1. Give each quote a name, such as the resort, and add its total if you have it.
  2. For every inclusion, choose yes, no or not sure.
  3. Leave not sure when the quote does not say. Do not guess.
  4. Press “Compare my quotes” and read the matrix.

Practical implication: the fewer “not sure” answers you leave, the stronger the comparison, and the list of questions shows exactly where to ask.

How are the results worked out?

For each row, the tool looks only at the answers you gave. If two quotes say yes and no, the row is marked as a difference. If every quote says the same, it is marked the same. If any answer is not sure, the row is marked open, and a question is written for that quote.

Not sure is never treated as no. A row can be both open and different when one quote says yes, another says no, and a third is silent.

What does the matrix list?

The rows cover items that quotes often handle differently:

  • Return boat to the island and transfers on the island.
  • All meals, or breakfast only.
  • Marine park fee and jetty or terminal fees.
  • Snorkelling gear.
  • Child rate or rules, and cancellation terms.
  • Taxes and service charge.

Meal plans and fees vary by resort, so the wording on your quote decides each answer. Our guide on spotting missing items in a package quote shows what to look for.

A worked example (hypothetical)

Imagine two example quotes, A and B, for the same 3 nights. The totals are example figures only.

Quote A says boat transfers and all meals are included, and is silent on the marine park fee. Quote B says boat transfers are included, breakfast only, and says nothing else. The matrix marks meals as a real difference, boat as the same, and the park fee as open for both. The questions list asks each operator about the fee, and asks B about lunch and dinner.

The result: the cheaper total may not be the cheaper trip until those answers arrive.

What can it not tell you?

It does not check whether a quote is genuine, current or available. It does not rate resorts. Read how to compare two resorts on the same island fairly for the wider method.

A better fit if you hold written quotes already. If you only have a brochure, ask for a quotation first.

What should I do with the result?

Send the open questions to each operator in writing and keep their replies. Send the matrix to us if you would like help turning it into a decision.

If the matrix shows several items to confirm, send it to us on WhatsApp and we will help word the questions for each operator.

Common questions

Why is not sure kept separate from no?

A quote that does not mention breakfast has not said breakfast is excluded. Treating silence as no would make that package look worse than it may be. Not sure keeps the question open until the operator answers in writing.

Can I compare quotes for different dates?

You can, but the comparison is only fair when dates, group size and room type match. Peak dates, extra beds and child rates change prices on their own. Try to ask each operator to quote the same trip.

Does it pick a winner?

No. It shows differences and open questions. Which inclusions matter is your choice, because a family with toddlers and a group of friends value different things. The price row sits beside the matrix so you can weigh both.

What happens to the quote names I type?

They stay in your browser. Nothing goes into the page address or into analytics. If you press the WhatsApp button, the short summary is sent in your message, and you can edit it before sending.

Share your dates, group and budget per person, and we help you shortlist islands and resorts and prepare a written quotation.
