Laguna Redang: what to confirm

What do we know about Laguna Redang Island Resort?

Our notes place Laguna Redang at the south end of the Pasir Panjang strip on the east side. Pasir Panjang is the largest beach on Redang, with about half a dozen resorts along it ^[1].

The web address we tried showed a parked page, and the meal plan is unknown. That means the first useful step is to ask the resort for its current booking page and a written quotation.

We have not reviewed the resort in person, and we found no confirmed child rules.

Who might it suit?

It may suit you if you want a stay on the long Pasir Panjang beach and are happy to compare it with its beach neighbours. Being on a strip with several resorts also gives you something to compare against.

How do you get there?

Most guests reach Redang by speedboat from the Merang jetty, and the crossing takes about 45 minutes ^[2]. Ask whether the resort boat meets you at Merang and what time the boat leaves.

Details to confirm before booking

Ask the resort or agent the following, and keep each reply as a written record.

• Where is the resort on the Pasir Panjang strip, and how far is the room from the beach?
• Which room types are available, and how many people does each take?
• Can you send an official booking page or a written quotation I can keep?
• Which meals are included each night, including arrival and departure days, and are tea breaks, snacks and drinks extra?
• Is the boat transfer both ways in the package, what time does it leave, and where does it collect you?
• Is the marine park fee in the package? It is reported as RM30 for an adult and RM15 for a child without a MyKad, and RM5 and RM2 with one ^[3].
• How are children, infants and seniors priced, and what happens to your payment if the sea is too rough to sail?

Fee amounts come from secondary sources, so confirm them with the operator.

When does it close?

Resorts on the east coast usually shut for the northeast monsoon, which runs roughly November to February or March. The exact dates change by resort and year ^[4]. We hold no confirmed dates for Laguna Redang Island Resort, so request them in writing.
