Redang Bay vs Redang Paradise: what to compare

Two neighbours on Pasir Panjang report different meal bases, so the way meals are priced decides the comparison.

Redang Bay Resort and Redang Paradise Resort are neighbours on Pasir Panjang, the largest beach on Redang [1]. What separates them in our notes is meals. One blog reports that Redang Bay’s rates are all-inclusive, and another says Redang Paradise requires breakfast and mentions no full-board package.

Both statements come from single blog sources, so treat them as questions. This page shows how to convert two different meal bases into one comparable number. Start with the Pulau Redang island guide.

How do you compare an all-inclusive rate with a breakfast rate?

You cannot put the two rates side by side until the meals match. Convert them in three steps.

  1. For the all-inclusive resort, ask exactly which meals, snacks and drinks are covered.
  2. For the breakfast resort, ask the price of lunch and dinner for each person per day.
  3. Add those meal prices to the breakfast rate for every day you stay, then compare the two totals.

Use your own numbers. If four of you stay for the same nights, multiply the extra meals by four before adding. The island trip cost calculator will do this, and our guide to all-inclusive versus room only on islands explains the trade-off.

Which meal details need confirming?

An all-inclusive plan can still leave out things you care about. Ask these:

  • Are drinks, including water, tea and coffee, included?
  • Are snacks and tea breaks included?
  • What changes on the arrival and departure days?
  • Is the plan the same for children?

For the breakfast-required resort, ask whether you can add lunch, dinner or both, and whether there is a place to eat on the beach. Our guide to reading whether full board includes drinks shows what to look for.

A better fit if…

Redang Bay may be a better fit if you want one price that covers meals, and the all-inclusive claim is confirmed in writing. It may also suit a group that wants a dorm bed, if that is available.

Redang Paradise may be a better fit if you prefer to choose where to eat and pay for meals as you go. Confirm what a dinner costs before you decide.

Either may be a poor fit if you have special diets. Ask both what they can offer.

When can you go?

Most Redang resorts close during the northeast monsoon, roughly November to March [3]. Exact dates vary by resort, so ask each. The Merang jetty arrival guide shows how the first day fits together.

Tell us your dates and how many are eating, and we will help you ask both resorts for the same meal lines so the totals can be compared.

Common questions

Which one is all-inclusive?

One blog reports that Redang Bay Resort's rates are all-inclusive, covering all meals, and that dorm beds are available. That is a single source. Ask the resort which meals, snacks and drinks are covered, and whether the plan applies to your dates and room.

Does Redang Paradise Resort include dinner?

One blog says breakfast is mandatory and mentions no full-board package. That suggests lunch and dinner may be extra, but confirm it. Ask for the cost of each meal, and whether a meal plan can be added.

Are they next to each other?

Our notes place Redang Bay just north of Laguna on the Pasir Panjang strip, and Redang Paradise next to Redang Bay. Ask each resort how far your room is from the sand and which part of the beach it faces.

Do they close in the monsoon?

Most Redang resorts close during the northeast monsoon, roughly November to March, and exact dates vary. We have none confirmed for these two. Ask for them in writing and ask what happens to a booking if the boat cannot sail.
