Laguna Redang vs Redang Beach: what to compare

Laguna Redang Island Resort and Redang Beach Resort both sit on Redang’s main beach. For a first-timer, the comparison rests on three things: how far the room is from the sand, how you arrive and what the quotation includes. We do not rank either resort, because our research has not confirmed their rooms or meals. This page gives you the method.

The beach rows are the ones first-timers skip. Two resorts on the same strip can still have rooms at very different distances from the water.

Which ferry route suits you?

The redang.com.my FAQ gives a speedboat from Al-Ameen Jetty in Merang, about 45 minutes, and a ferry from the Kuala Terengganu jetty, about two hours ^[2]. Pick the route that fits your starting point and arrival time, not the one that sounds shorter.

What does the marine park fee add?

A secondary source reports RM30 for an adult and RM15 for a child aged six to twelve without a MyKad, and RM5 and RM2 with one ^[3]. Ask each resort to write the amount per person and say whether it is paid on arrival or in the quote. Add it to your line sheet for every guest.

How do you compare when one resort has less information?

Move down this ladder, and only go further when the step above has an answer.

1. Confirm the name, the operator and an official contact.
2. Confirm the room type and the number of guests.
3. Confirm meals for every day.
4. Confirm the boat both ways.
5. Confirm fees, closing dates and the cancellation rule.

A better fit if…

Laguna may be a better fit if you like being at the busier south end of the main beach and the resort can answer in writing.

Redang Beach Resort may be a better fit if you want a linked site to read first and a ferry choice from Kuala Terengganu.

Either may be a poor fit if you need certainty before you pay. Ask for written terms from both.

When can you go?

Most Redang resorts close during the northeast monsoon, roughly November to March ^[4]. Dates vary, so ask each resort. Our Redang season guide explains the pattern.
