Redang De' Rimba: what to confirm

You found a Redang stay away from the beach and wonder what that means for your days.

Redang De’ Rimba is in Teluk Dalam on the north side of Pulau Redang. It is not on the beach, and one listing puts the sand at about a ten to fifteen minute walk. It also has a basic restaurant, which is the only meal detail we have.

Use this page with the Pulau Redang island guide and our guide to a northern base at Teluk Dalam.

What do we know?

Teluk Dalam is one of the other resort areas on Redang, away from the large Pasir Panjang beach [1]. De’ Rimba sits inland from the bay rather than on it.

Our notes describe a basic restaurant and a ten to fifteen minute walk to the beach. We found no official page, so every other detail is open.

Is a walk to the beach a problem?

It depends on who you travel with. A ten-minute walk is easy for a pair of adults and tiring for a toddler with a bag, a grandparent in the heat, or anyone carrying snorkel gear.

Ask what the path is like at night and after rain. Ask whether there is a buggy or a shuttle. A stay away from the sand can also be quieter and a little cheaper, so it is a trade-off, not a flaw.

Who might it suit?

It may suit you if you plan to be out on the water most of the day and mainly need a place to sleep. Travellers who like a short walk before breakfast may enjoy it.

A beachfront resort is a better fit if you want to step from the room to the sea, or you travel with a very small child. We have not stayed here, so please judge the walk yourself using the answers you get.

Getting there

Redang guests cross by speedboat from the Merang jetty, about 45 minutes [2]. For a northern stay, ask where the boat lands and how you reach the resort from there.

Our Merang jetty arrival guide covers the road side.

Details to confirm before booking

  • How long is the walk to the beach, and what is the path like?
  • Does the resort offer a lift for luggage or for tired guests?
  • Which meals are included, and when does the restaurant open?
  • Where does the boat land, and who meets us there?
  • Is the marine park fee in the price?
  • What are the child and senior rules?
  • What is the cancellation rule if the boat cannot sail?

When does it close?

Most east-coast resorts close during the northeast monsoon, roughly November to February or March [3]. We have no confirmed dates for this resort, so ask before you pick a month.

How should you compare it with neighbours?

Compare the whole day, not just the room rate. A stay with a walk may cost less, but add up the transfers and meals. The Taaras Beach & Spa Resort is another northern option worth asking about.

Then run both quotations through the cost calculator.

Tell us how far you are happy to walk and who is travelling, and we will help you ask this resort the right questions so you can compare it fairly with beachfront options.

Common questions

Is Redang De' Rimba on the beach?

No. Our notes say it is not beachfront and that the beach is about a ten to fifteen minute walk away, from one listing. Ask for the route, whether it is lit at night, and how steep it is, especially if you travel with children or older relatives.

Where is Redang De' Rimba?

It is listed in Teluk Dalam, on the north side of Redang, away from the main Pasir Panjang strip. A northern base changes your boat drop-off and your beach options, so ask which jetty or landing point the resort uses. Keep the reply with your booking so everyone in your group sees the same facts.

What food is available at Redang De' Rimba?

Our notes mention a basic restaurant. That is all we know, so ask for the menu style, opening hours, whether meals are included and whether you may bring snacks. A basic kitchen suits some travellers and frustrates others. Ask for the reply in writing so you can compare it with other quotations.
