What are the transport legs of a Semporna trip?
Most trips use the same pattern: fly to Tawau, ride a van to Semporna, then take a speedboat to the island. One operator route lists about 75 minutes by van, then 45 to 60 minutes by boat to a Mabul resort [1].
The same route notes that a Semporna jetty fee is not included in some packages [1]. That is why the quotation should name the fee, who collects it and for whom.
How long is each boat ride?

A longer boat usually means a longer day on the road and the water. Ask whether lunch or a rest stop is planned for arrival days.
Why do Sipadan trips change the maths?
Sipadan has no accommodation, so every visit is a boat trip from the mainland or from a nearby island [4]. If you plan diving or snorkelling there, the permit costs sit on top of the boat.
Sabah Parks lists a conservation fee of RM100 for international visitors and RM50 for Malaysians, with separate diving fees [5]. Check whether your package covers the fee and the permit, or leaves both to you.
How do I add it up with my own numbers?
