How we keep prices and timetables fresh

You want to know how old a price or boat time on a page might be.

We keep prices and timetables fresh by dating every research pass, rechecking when a trigger appears and telling you to take the final figure from your written quotation. We do not run a live price feed. This page explains the system and its limits.

It is part of how IslandQuest decides what to recommend. The date labels are explained in how to read as-of dates on this site.

What makes us recheck a figure?

Three triggers send a figure back for checking.

  1. A reader reports a difference, for example a fee that does not match a quotation.
  2. A newer source contradicts an older one.
  3. A season ends or begins, since closures and schedules shift with it.

Practical implication: because we cannot see every operator, your message is one of the strongest signals we have.

How fast do different facts age?

Not all facts need the same care, so we sort them by how quickly they move.

Kind of factHow it agesWhat we do
Jetty and island locationsSlowlyRecheck when a source changes
Boat operators and timesCan move with seasonShow as reported, ask you to confirm
Fees and chargesCan change without noticeShow as reported, ask you to confirm
Monsoon closuresChange year to yearSay roughly November to March and ask for this year’s dates

For the sea warnings row, our guide on rough sea warnings and when boats do not sail lists where to look.

Why is there no live price feed?

A live price needs a live link to each resort and boat operator, and we do not hold one. Pretending otherwise would be worse than saying so. What we can do is tell you which lines a quotation should show, using the cost calculator.

If you want to test whether a price on any site is current, read how to check a package price without assuming it is live.

What do the dates on pages mean?

Our current pass of research notes is dated 16 October 2026. A date shows when we read the source, not when the operator set the figure. Pages show the date next to the source so you can judge for yourself.

What can you do to help?

When a quotation differs from a page, tell us. Send the page, your figure and who gave it. The steps are in how readers can send corrections, and the review rules are in our corrections policy.

A better fit if…

This guide suits you if you are about to rely on a boat time or a fee and want to know how fresh it is. It suits you less if you already hold a fresh written quotation, because that is the figure to use.

If you have a quotation that differs from a figure on our pages, send both to us and we will help you see which one is current.

Common questions

Do you update prices every day?

No. We do not run a live price feed. Our figures come from dated research passes and are rechecked when something prompts it. Whatever the page shows, the price in your written quotation is the one that counts.

How do you know when something has changed?

Mainly from three triggers: a reader tells us, a newer source contradicts an older one, or a season begins or ends. We cannot watch every operator, so your report that a figure has moved is valuable to us.

Why do you show a research date at all?

So you can judge for yourself. A date lets you see that a figure is from the October 2026 pass and decide how much to lean on it. Fees and boat times deserve a quick confirm even when the date is recent.

What should I do if a page looks out of date?

Send us the page and what you were told by the operator. We will check it, update the page if the new figure is confirmed, and change its date. You can also use the correction steps on our policy page.

Share your dates, group and budget per person, and we help you shortlist islands and resorts and prepare a written quotation.
