Corrections policy and how to report an error

You spotted something wrong on a page and want to know what happens when you tell us.

If you spot a mistake, send us the page, the line, what you believe is correct and where you saw it. We check it against a source, fix the page if it holds, update the date and note the change when it matters. This page sets out the process and what you will see.

It is part of how IslandQuest decides what to recommend. The shorter reader steps are in how readers can send corrections.

What should a report include?

A good report lets us check in minutes.

  1. The page name or address.
  2. The sentence or figure you think is wrong.
  3. What you believe is right.
  4. Where that comes from, such as a quotation, an operator message or an official page.

Practical implication: if you only have a message from an operator, send a screenshot of it, since it is a valid source for that operator’s own product.

What are the four outcomes?

Each report ends in one of four ways, and we tell you which.

OutcomeWhat it meansWhat you see
Confirmed and fixedYour detail holds against a sourceUpdated text and date
Confirmed, context addedThe page was right but unclearA clearer sentence
Not confirmedWe cannot verify either figureA confirm-before-booking note
Not an errorA difference of opinion or preferenceNo change, with our reason

What do we do for a material change?

A material change is one that could alter a decision, such as a fee, a rule or a safety-related detail. For those, we update the page date and add a short note of what changed and why, so a returning reader can see it.

Small fixes, such as a typo, are made without a note. The wider standards behind this are in our editorial policy.

Is a correction the same as a change of mind?

No. A correction fixes a fact or a misleading sentence. A change of mind is a different view about which island, resort or package is better. We keep the two apart, because mixing them would let any preference rewrite the facts.

If you disagree with a recommendation, tell us what you were weighing. We may add a “better fit if” note for your case, which helps the next reader.

How do we label figures we cannot confirm?

When two sources disagree and we cannot resolve it, we say so and give the question to ask. This avoids choosing a number for you. The approach is in how we handle unverified information and how we label facts.

A better fit if…

This page suits you if you have found a mismatch between a page and a quotation. It suits you less if you only want to check a detail before booking. For that, ask the operator in writing and keep the reply.

If you think something on a page is wrong, send us the page and what you were told and we will check it and tell you what we find.

Common questions

How do I report an error?

Send us the page, the line you think is wrong, what you believe is correct and where you saw it, such as an operator's message or official page. A screenshot helps. You can use the WhatsApp button on any page.

What happens after I report?

We check your detail against a source. If it holds, we fix the page, update its date and record what changed. If we cannot confirm it, we keep the page as it is, mark the point as something to confirm and tell you.

Do you tell readers when a page changed?

We update the date on the page and, for a material change such as a fee or a safety-related detail, we add a short note saying what changed. Small wording fixes are made without a note.

Is a different opinion an error?

Not by itself. If you prefer a different island, we will not change a page for that. If a fact is wrong or a sentence misleads, we will. Send the fact and we will look at it with you.

Share your dates, group and budget per person, and we help you shortlist islands and resorts and prepare a written quotation.
