Summer Bay vs D'Coconut Lagoon: what to compare
You are weighing two Lang Tengah stays and want to know what can be compared fairly.
We can confirm very little about either resort, so the honest answer is that you cannot choose between Summer Bay Resort and D’Coconut Lagoon from names alone. Both are on Pulau Lang Tengah and share the same crossing from Merang. The real differences will appear in two written quotations.
This page shows what is known and what to ask. The Lang Tengah island guide gives the wider picture, and the resort inclusion comparator helps you line up meals and transfers.
What do we know about each resort?
The table keeps confirmed facts apart from open questions. Where we have nothing, it says so.
| Summer Bay Resort | D’Coconut Lagoon | |
|---|---|---|
| Island | Lang Tengah | Lang Tengah |
| Bay | Summer Bay, listed as active | Not confirmed |
| Crossing | From Merang, about 45 minutes, resort boat [1] | Same crossing, resort boat [1] |
| Meals | Not stated, ask | One source suggests food is usually included, ask |

| Season dates | Not confirmed, ask | Not confirmed, ask |
Neither resort has an official page in our research. Read our separate pages on Summer Bay Resort and D’Coconut Lagoon for what each one adds.
Why does the bay matter more than the name?
The bay decides your walk to the beach, your view and how snorkelling is arranged. Summer Bay is a named bay, while D’Coconut Lagoon’s location is not confirmed in our notes.
Ask D’Coconut Lagoon which bay it faces and how far your room is from the sand. Our Turtle Bay and Summer Bay guide explains how the two bays differ.
Which questions will separate the two quotations?
Send the same list to both, in the same words, so the replies line up.
- Which bay is the room in, and how far is the beach?
- Which room types fit our group, and how many people does each take?
- Which meals are covered on each night, including arrival and departure days?
- Which boat do we take, what time does it sail and is the return trip priced in?
- Is any marine park fee in the price, or paid on arrival?
- What are your closing dates for the monsoon this year?
- What happens to the booking if the boat cannot sail?
How do you read the two replies together?
Put both answers into one sheet and work through it in this order.
- Confirm the island and bay for each resort.
- Write the room type and the number of guests it covers.
- Write the meal plan as full board, half board or room only.
- Mark whether the boat is in the price, both ways.
- Divide each total by the number of guests and the number of nights.
Our Lang Tengah package inclusions guide lists the usual lines to look for, and the island trip cost calculator does the sums with your numbers.
A better fit if…
Summer Bay Resort may be a better fit if you want to know the bay before you ask anything else, since the bay is named.
D’Coconut Lagoon may be a better fit if a single booking that bundles stay, food and boat is what you want, provided the quotation proves it in writing.
Either may be a poor fit if you are short of time or have small children who tire on boats. Ask about the sailing time and the walk from jetty to room before you commit.
What is the next step?
Check the Lang Tengah season guide for the monsoon pattern, then send both resorts the question list above.
Common questions
Which is better, Summer Bay Resort or D'Coconut Lagoon?
Our research cannot rank them, because neither has confirmed room types, meal plans or season dates. A fair choice comes from two written quotations that list the same items. Ask both for the bay, the room type, the meals and the boat, then compare line by line.
Do both resorts use the same boat from Merang?
Guests usually cross from Merang in about 45 minutes, and resort boats collect them. We do not know whether the two resorts share a boat or a jetty. Ask each one which jetty, what time the boat sails and whether the return trip is in the price.
Is food included at either resort?
One source suggests Lang Tengah resorts often include food, but it does not name a plan for either resort. Ask whether breakfast, lunch and dinner are covered each day, including arrival and departure days, and whether drinks and snacks cost extra.
Are they open in the monsoon months?
Most east-coast resorts close during the northeast monsoon, roughly November to February or March, and exact dates vary by resort and year. We have no confirmed dates for either one. Ask for them in writing before you plan flights.
