Lumut jetty and Marina Island jetty for Pangkor
You have read two jetty names for Pangkor and want to know what each is for.
Two jetties are tied to Pangkor. Lumut Jetty has a crossing of about 30 to 45 minutes depending on the sea [1]. Marina Island Jetty has a shorter crossing of about 10 to 15 minutes.
Your resort or ferry operator decides which one you use. Ask before you set your navigation.
For the island itself, see our Pulau Pangkor island guide. For a side-by-side of the two jetties, read choosing your Pangkor jetty.
What does each jetty offer?
| Lumut Jetty | Marina Island Jetty | |
|---|---|---|
| Crossing to Pangkor | About 30 to 45 minutes [1] | About 10 to 15 minutes [2] |
| Access | Town jetty in Lumut | Bridge-linked to the mainland, cars can park |
| Confidence | Medium | Low |
The figures come from travel sources. Ask the operator for the actual crossing and departure times on your date.
Why does Marina Island confuse people?
Marina Island is also the check-in point for Pangkor Laut Resort, a private island with its own resort. Its guests take a speedboat of about 15 minutes from Marina Island Pangkor Jetty, and the transfer is booked separately [3].
That means “Marina Island jetty” can point to two different trips: a ferry to Pangkor island, or a resort boat to Pangkor Laut. Check the island name on your booking before you travel. Our page on Pangkor Laut Resort shows what we have confirmed.
What should a driver ask?
- Which jetty does my booking use, and at what time must we arrive?
- Where do I park, what is the fee and is it watched?
- Is there a separate ticket for luggage or a vehicle?
- What time is the last boat back, and what if I miss it?
- Is the resort boat transfer included in the room price?

What does the shorter crossing save?
Take the reported times and double them for a return trip. Lumut Jetty is about 30 to 45 minutes each way, so 60 to 90 minutes on the water. Marina Island is about 10 to 15 minutes each way, so 20 to 30 minutes.
The gap is roughly 30 to 60 minutes over a weekend. That is a real saving for families with young children, though it only helps if your ferry actually leaves from Marina Island. Always ask your operator before you plan around the shorter crossing.
How do you get to Lumut?
Drivers from the north can read Ipoh to Lumut for Pangkor. From the Klang Valley, read Klang Valley to Lumut by road. Use our jetty connection planner to add a margin to your own plan.
A better fit if
Lumut Jetty may be a better fit if your ferry operator departs from there and you are comfortable with a longer crossing. Marina Island may be a better fit if you want a shorter boat and parking near the water, or if you are heading to Pangkor Laut.

Common questions
What is the difference between the two jetties?
Lumut Jetty to Pangkor is about 30 to 45 minutes depending on the sea. Marina Island Jetty offers a shorter crossing of about 10 to 15 minutes and is linked to the mainland by a bridge, so cars can park there. Confirm which one your booking uses.
Is Marina Island the same as Pangkor Laut?
No. Pangkor Laut Resort sits on a private island and its guests check in at Marina Island, then take a boat of about 15 minutes. Pangkor island, where most visitors stay, is a different island. Do not mix up the two when you book.
Which jetty is better for drivers?
Marina Island is bridge-linked to the mainland, so cars can park there, per one source. Confirm parking fees, safety and distance to the ferry directly with the operator before you rely on it.
Does the sea change the crossing?
Yes. Reported times depend on sea conditions, and boats can be delayed. Check sea warnings before you go, and ask your operator what happens if a sailing is cancelled.
